ALCM diploma success for Syd Simpson

Some five years of worked paid off for IMJMusic student Syd Simpson as he played in London this summer for the award of the Associate of London College of Music (ALCM)

Syd delivered an outstanding 45-minute recital of challenging works by Beethoven, Chopin, Scott, and Roxburgh before LCM's Chief Examiner Dr Philip Aldred and an unknown colleague. Syd described being assessed by two senior examiners as both exciting and exhilarating!

Syd also presented an historical and analytical essay on items performed and answered questions during the viva examination. "Good cop/bad cop" being Syd's exact words (!) but it was clear by that they had every confidence in awarding Syd the Associate diploma. Many congratulations, Syd!

So what's next for Syd? Chopin's infamous Ballade in G minor is next on the agenda, along with an assortment of advanced works.

Keep up the great work!
